Marketing & Communications

Marketing & Communications

Exposure therapy is a gold-standard treatment for anxiety and related disorders, often yielding improvements that are fast, large, and lasting. Yet its uptake remains limited due to widespread misconceptions among clinicians, clients, and the public. Misunderstandings about what exposure therapy entails, how it works, and who it helps can create fear, resistance, and stigma that ultimately reduce access to effective care. The Marketing & Communications Working Group aims to change that narrative. Our ultimate goal is that more people experience healing through this powerful therapy intervention.

This working group is focused on increasing the visibility, accessibility, and accurate understanding of exposure therapy through clear, engaging, and evidence-informed messaging. We are particularly invested in addressing persistent myths and misperceptions that interfere with its use in clinical practice and its acceptance by the public. We view this work as essential to advancing the broader goal of increasing access to effective, high-quality exposure-based treatments.
